Turquet's Cul-de-Sac

It is undoubtely here that we may find vestiges of the oldest buildings in Lyon with their picturesque timbered galleries suspended over the void.

In 1536, Turquet who hailed from Piemont, and his associate Naris obtained special tax exemptions from Francis 1 which enabled them to introduce silk weaving to Lyon, the indutry which was to secure the city's fortune for 400 years.
